Climate justice activists with the No Coal No Gas campaign announced yesterday that their long campaign to shut down the last remaining coal-fired power plant in New England – the Merrimack Station in Bow, New Hampshire – has succeeded. The campaign, which took place over the span of nearly five years, included waves of civil disobedience in combination with litigation and regulatory challenges. Many of those arrested during protest actions were represented by CDP’s Kira Kelley. More information about the closure can be found in the press release from No Coal No Gas.
